If you're a person with a low income experiencing a family law issue, you may be eligible for free legal advice over the telephone from a family lawyer.
Family LawLINE lawyers give brief "next step" advice about family law issues such as:
- parenting time or contact/access,
- child support,
- spousal support,
- property division,
- family agreements, and
- court procedures.
You may be able to get this help whether or not you qualify for a legal aid lawyer. See Do I qualify? on the Legal Services Society (Legal Aid BC) website.
To be considered for the Family LawLINE service, call Legal Aid's province-wide Call Centre during the times listed below. An intake worker will ask you questions about your financial situation and your legal issue. If you qualify, you'll be transferred to the Family LawLINE service.
Interpreters are provided if you need services in languages other than English.
